Who We Are

In this era of indigenous peoples marginalization around the world, IWAGREC strives to empower the most vulnerable of indigenous peoples. Women and girls are usually the most excluded in decision making regarding impactful aspects of our society. Membership to IWAGREC, is open to all person(s), interested and willing to contribute to the realization of the association's aim and objectives of women and girl's economic, political, social, cultural and environmental empowerment.

What we do

We work with partners to implement projects in indigenous communities which help to empower women and girls to take control of their lives and the things around them that affect them and their family's livelihoods. At our center, we organise indigenous women and provide training and support activities which aim to foster our objectives.

Economic Empowerment

We implement projects that foster indigenous women and girl's financial independence and income sustainability. We strengthen and develop specific strengths of each indigenous people's group to achieve our objectives. For example milk processing, traditional artifacts crafting and trading for Mbororo women.

Political Empowerment

We organize indigenous women into cooperatives and meeting groups to strengthen their voices to be heard. We also make accessible leadership training and literacy programs for indigenous women and girls to teach them to read and write.

Social Empowerment
